Why Printed Custom Circuit Board Has Become Popular

By Alba Durham

Over the years, the industry of electronics drastically changed as technology also advanced. Currently, most of the electronic manufacturers are using printed custom circuit board instead of the traditional breadboards. This provides easier and more precise assembly, making it ideal for large-scale productions. The system's circuit board mechanically supports and connects all electrical components of a material.

Breadboard design and layout were once unshared by large manufacturers only mainly due to the costs associated with the process. However, the latest innovations in printed circuit boards make this more practically attainable for hobbyists and small-scale electronics builders alike. Now, it is easier than ever to design and organize prototypes to a durable, professional-looking and neat board.

Many designers and manufacturers favor the use of PCB because of its cost-efficiency, ability to hold the parts better even in adverse conditions and flexibility in size. This is a feasible option for small and large-scale enterprises alike. This is a popular choice in creating a prototype design for any system, indeed.

Most of the time, it is the size of the breadboard that determines the circuit size. Typically, the boards are designed to be reused, so cutting them is not common. Thus, the board comes in various sizes that are retained. Meanwhile, the customized boards only have one specific size to suit the circuits' pattern perfectly. Odd-shaped breadboard is a common sight in making custom boards.

The durability of PCBs are superior as well. The copper conductors are securely bonded on the board. Thus, it does not easily come loose compared to a point-to-point wiring, which is not resistant to strong vibrations. The components of a printed circuit is typically soldered in, too. This contributes to the board's durability. Custom breadboards are more likely to last long with heavy usage.

Furthermore, the printed boards are cost-effective. Whether producing them in small or large scales, it costs less to fabricate PCB than hand-building a specific prototype. More so when it deals with larger quantities. The latest update in the PC software being used today also make it possible to send layouts to a manufacturing shop for production right then and there. This helps saves time and cost in the process.

Regarding the appearance, a printed CB is neater and more organized. The software aids in designing to strategically arrange its components in a way that would boost the system's performance. As an added benefit, this keeps it looking neat and tidy. Its parts are spaced evenly while the traces are symmetrical and uniform.

Reducing the wires in the breadboard also makes it less complicated, more professional and sleeker. This does not only provide flexibility, but it also ensures permanence to prevent from knocking out the wires for keeping. This also allows adding silk-screened texts and artwork on the boards to make it look more creative.

In summary, custom circuit board is indeed the ultimate solution for different challenges and shortcomings that a typical circuit board faces. Presently, anybody may be able to come up with a professional PCB without having to spend too much. It is not as time-consuming or as complicated as the other means while it provides equal efficiency and functionality.
